A new life for the legendary “Rondo” hall – a symbol of Konin undergoes modernisation

More than five decades ago it was a symbol of modernity and local pride. Today the “Rondo” hall in Konin is back in the spotlight – as a space fit for the 21st century. After the contract was signed and works began, the long-awaited modernisation has started. The thorough reconstruction of the hall, carried out by Grupa KDM, is not only a response to technical needs, but above all an investment in the comfort, accessibility and shared identity of the residents of Konin. The value of the project exceeds PLN 22.8 million, a significant part of which comes from the Government Strategic Investment Fund. Completion of the works is planned for March 2026.

The city's symbol in a new guise – from 1970s modernity to the standards of tomorrow

For years it served as a centre of local sporting and cultural events. Now it will gain a new lease of life, while retaining its architectural character. The modernisation includes, among other things, reconstruction of the roof, adapting evacuation routes to current regulations, replacement of internal installations and improved accessibility for people with disabilities.

It is not just a renovation, but a real investment in the safety and comfort of residents. The building was used by generations, and its revitalisation will allow it to remain open to everyone, regardless of age and ability.

A project that brings people together

The modernisation is the responsibility of Grupa KDM, a general contractor known for the comprehensive delivery of projects of social significance.

– “Rondo” is not just a hall. It is a space that for years brought the local community together. We are glad we can take part in its renewal – says Dominik Działak, President of the Management Board of Grupa KDM. – It is a project that for me personally carries enormous emotional weight, because Konin is my home town.

Grupa KDM's involvement goes beyond the construction site. The company became a partner of the 27th National Słup Mile Run – one of the most important sporting events in the region. This year the children's and youth edition took place on 23 May, and the main run and the Nordic walking march are planned for 28 June. A significant part of the old roof covering has already been removed. Demolition works and preparations for replacing the installations are under way. The site has been properly secured and the hall temporarily taken out of use. MOSiR (the Sports and Recreation Centre) is taking organisational steps to enable sports activities to continue at replacement locations.
